DESCRIPTION: Clocks- 2 (Two) Seth Thomas for U.S. Maritime Commission: (1) Seth Thomas Clock Co., Thomaston, Conn., ship's bell, 8 day, time and ship's bells, spring-driven balance wheel movement in a gray painted metal case with hinged phenolic bezel and 6 inch black dial. (2) Seth Thomas Clock Co., Thomaston, Conn., ship's lever, 8 day, time only, spring-driven balance wheel movement in a black phenolic case with hinged bezel, 6 inch silvered dial with subsidiary seconds.
CONDITION: (1) Gray paint is dirty, worn, and flaking. Dial has some light mottling. Original luminous paint has darkened. Maritime Commission serial number 18858. Movement ticks and strikes, but was not tested long term. (2) Black case is in good condtion. Dial is excellent. Luminous paint on the ends of the hands has darkened a bit. Maritime Commission serial number 30773. Movement ticks briskly. Sold "as is ".
